IHC restores Accountant General Tahir Mehmood

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has restored the Accountant General of Pakistan, Tahir Mehmood at his post on Friday – ARY News reports.

According to details, the IHC suspended the notification issued by the Establishment Division on December 18. Tahir Mehmood had challenged his removal from the post of Accountant General (AG) in the High Court, his attorney Aurangzeb Advocate took the stance in the court that Tahir Mehmood was suspended against the rules and regulations.

He stated that according to rules, his client is an officer of BPS-21, he cannot be suspended. He added that if the Establishment Division has to take an action against Tahir Mehmood, it can only do so through the Auditor General.

The IHC after listening to the arguments sought an answer from the Secretary Establishment Division, Secretary Finance and the Auditor General within 15 days and restored Tahir Mehmood at his post.
