ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday restored Zaka Ashraf as Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as well as canceled the termination of dozens of employees that were recently sacked by the body, ARY News reported.
On Ferbruary 10, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the patron of the PCB issued order to remove Zaka Ashraf as the chairman of the board and formed an eight-member committee led by Najam Sethi.
Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi, the single-member bench at IHC, heard the petition against the move, challenging the termination of a number of employees in the board, including that of former chief selector Mohammad Ilyas.
Zaka Ashraf was not the petitioner; he was made a party to it.
The natural consequence of the court order is that Ashraf is back at the helm of affairs. The detailed court order, likely on Monday, will further clarify the bigger picture.
