ISLAMABAD: The government has stopped implementation of death sentence in the country, Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan told the National Assembly on Wednesday.
In his written reply to a query in the parliament, the minister said implementation of death sentence of all kinds has been suspended.
He said the execution process had been stopped until a meeting between the president and the prime minister was held on the issue.
The interior minister told the house that no request was under consideration with the president, seeking amnesty to any death sentence.
