Imran accepts King Salman’s invitation to visit Saudi Arabia
ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdul Aziz on Monday again telephoned prime minister-in-waiting Imran Khan and felicitated him over his party’s victory in general elections.
Talking to media in Islamabad on Monday, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said King Salman invited Imran Khan to visit Saudi Arabia, which he accepted.
He said the Saudi King acknowledged Pakistan’s importance in Riyadh’s eyes and expressed the desire for close and proactive relationships with Islamabad. He said Imran Khan also extended invitation to the Saudi King to visit Pakistan.
He said Imran Khan told King Salman bin Abdul Aziz that people of Pakistan hold Saudi Arabia in the highest esteem.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said defense of Harmain Sharifain is part of the faith of every Muslim. To a question, he said consultative meeting of PTI’s Punjab parliamentary party has been convened on Wednesday in Lahore.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) tally reached 158 members in the National Assembly after it secured 28 reserved seats for women and five for religious minorities.
The PTI claims to have garnered support of 180 members of the National Assembly and Imran is set to take oath as prime minister on August 18.
As soon as the newly-elected prime minister would take oath, the job of the caretakers would be over and power would be transferred to the newly elected government under the law and the constitution.
