Imran accuses ‘Sharifs of launching propaganda’ ahead of PM’s KP visit

In its carry-over, Khan is becoming quite vocal with every passing day against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his alleged secret wealth abroad. The PTI chairman posted latest tweets accusing Sharif family of ‘launching massive propaganda campaign on “development” at tax payer’s expense.

His tweets came hours before PM Sharif’s address in Mardan, a district in Khyber Pakhtonkhwa where Imran Khan’s party rules.

He said: “Pakistan has one of the lowest Human Development Index in South Asia but governemnt is spending public money to detract from Sharifs off shore accounts and properties.” “Why can’t Sharif family use its own money – the billions stashed abroad – for their propaganda campaign instead of misusing public funds?”, he asked.

Former cricket hero Imran, who staged protests in Islamabad for 128 days in 2014 over alleged electoral fraud, has threatened to call new demonstrations for PM Nawaz’s resignation, saying this month the prime minister has lost the “moral authority to rule”.

This month, leaked documents from the Mossack Fonseca law firm in Panama showed Nawaz’s sons Hassan and Hussain, and daughter Maryam, owned at least three offshore holding companies registered in the British Virgin Islands.

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, which studied the papers, said those companies had engaged in at least $25 million in property and acquisition deals.
