PM Imran’s federal cabinet likely to be expanded

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet of Prime Minister Imran Khan is likely to be expanded with the addition of at least four other ministers.

Well-informed sources informed told ARY News that at least four to five ministers are likely to be inducted in the federal cabinet. Faisal Vawda and Fazal Muhammad Khan are likely to be made part along with Ali Amin Gandapur and Azam Swati.

The federal cabinet currently has 19 ministers and four ministers of state. Several prominent ministries are still vacant including Science and Technology, Overseas Pakistanis, transportation, Kashmir affairs, Narcotics, and Postal Services.

The ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is also vacant after Babar Awan resigned as an adviser to face a corruption inquiry.

Sources also informed that efforts are being made to convince disgruntled member Muhammad Mian Soomro to be part of the federal cabinet. The former chairman Senate had refused to take oath after not been offered a federal ministry and was instead offered a state ministry.

The most recent expansion was on Tuesday when six new members were inducted in the federal cabinet and were administered oath by President Arif Alvi.

Omar Ayub Khan, Ali Muhammad Khan Mahar and Syed Ali Haider Zaidi were inducted as federal minister, while Muhammad Shabir Ali, Murad Saeed and Hammad Azhar were inducted as state ministers.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had initially unveiled a twenty member cabinet including fifteen ministers and five advisers. The federal cabinet currently has nineteen ministers and four ministers of state along with four advisers and three special assistants to the prime minister.
