ISLAMABAD: Rumours are still rife that former interior minister and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is expected to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

PTI chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday seemed to drop a major indication that a ‘big wicket’ is expected to fall, but refused to give any further details.

Speaking to mediapersons during a visit to Lahore, the PTI chairman was asked if Chaudhry Nisar had made up his mind to join his party. However, Imran refused to give any affirmative answer or denial.

“A big wicket is expected to fall. So it is better if we focus on it,” he said. When asked if he was referring to Chaudhry Nisar, he replied: “I cannot tell you this now, but it is more important.”

Imran Khan is expected to hold a political gathering at the iconic Minar-e-Pakistan on April 29, where he said that a massive wave is likely to strike the party soon.

“The floods that is coming will soon turn into a tsunami plus. One will the tsunami of people and another will be the tsunami in the PTI.”

PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry also denied rumours of Chaudhry Nisar’s joining saying that there was premature and cannot be confirmed at this point.

Chaudhry Nisar has been disgruntled with PML-N leadership including former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has made several attempt to woo him, but Nisar has expressed a desire that Nawaz Sharif instead visit him.
