PM Imran, Asad Umar discuss cabinet related matters
ISLAMABAD: Former finance minister Asad Umar met with Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
As per details, the one-to-one meeting between the prime minister and the former finance minister was part of efforts to convince Asad Umar to rejoin the cabinet.
Earlier, Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed said Asad Umar met with the premier to discuss important matters including his return to the federal cabinet.
After resignation Sheikh Rasheed held three meetings with the former finance minister to convince him to rejoin the federal cabinet.
The prime minister has been saying that he would welcome Asad Umar, who stepped down as finance minister on April 18, back into the cabinet if he intends to come back.
Last month, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Asad Umar had announced that he is stepping down from his post as finance minister.
In a statement on Twitter, Asad Umar broke the news by saying, “As part of a cabinet reshuffle PM desired that I take the energy minister portfolio instead of finance.”
“However, I have obtained his consent to not take any cabinet position. I strongly believe PM Imran Khan is the best hope for Pakistan and inshallah will make a naya pakistan,” the former minister added.
