Imran Khan opposes Rana Bhagwan Das' appointment as new CEC

TOP NEWS

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan has opposed the appointment of Justice (R) Rana Bhagwan Das as the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan – ARY News reports.

In a press release issued today, Imran Khan demanded the Government not to humiliate a man like Rana Bhagwan Das by making him an ineffective CEC, as it has been occurring earlier.

He stated that until all the four members of the commission are not appointed transparently and through true consultation, the role of the commission cannot be non-political and the CEC can also not run the institution independently and fairly.

Khan said that PTI suffered from worst corruption during the last elections due to a power-less CEC.

The PTI Chairman told that PTI appeared as the second largest political party of the country in 2013 general elections, yet he was only consulted formally regarding the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner.
