ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief, Imran Khan has demanded the Geo TV Network to apologize the Pakistani nation, for leveling baseless allegations on Pakistan Army and Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). He further slammed the media organization for acting as the media cell of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) during the last general elections in the country – ARY News reports.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Imran Khan said that Pakistan is facing internal as well as external security threats and terrorism. He urged all the state institutions to work within their limits prescribed in the constitution, however said that this is intolerable that a media house initiates defamation campaign against a prestigious institution, without opting for a legal way.
He kept on criticizing, saying that in the past Geo News failed to nominate the members affiliated with a political party, who were involved in brutal, killing of its reporter Wali Khan Babar, whereas it aired initial results during the general elections as the real and final results, thus aiding in influencing the polls fully and grabbed financial benefits.
The PTI Chairman said that Geo News worked as the PMLN media cell during the general elections, for obtaining broadcasting rights of international cricket matches and PTI kept quiet only for the sake of freedom of media, however the media organization recently crossed its limits by going far away in defaming Pakistan and causing the morale of Pakistan Army and its soldiers to decline.
Imran Khan further said that the ambiguous role of the Government and attitude towards this issue is also condemnable.
