ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) chief Imran Khan on Monday unveiled the party’s election manifesto, saying if it is voted to power it would create massive job opportunities, build low-cost houses for poor, and tackle corruption and the water crisis.

Mr. Khan said he would turn the country into a welfare state after winning power.

Highlighting the salient features of the manifesto, he said his party’s first challenge will be tackling unemployment and creating jobs.

He said the party will construct 5 million houses for the poor and provide 10 million jobs over five years’ term.

“I know it is not easy but we are committed to facilitate building of 5 million houses. Government won’t build houses. Private sector will be engaged for the purpose as new companies will get a chance and hence new jobs will be created.”

Mr. Khan said small industries act as the backbone of the country; therefore, his party will facilitate young entrepreneurs by reducing startup cost.

He said he will depoliticize and strengthen the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other state institutions to battle corruption as 10 billion dollars are laundered and sent abroad every year.

If the institutions will be strong they would eliminate corruption, he opined.

“We are going to reform NAB, SECP, FBR and other state institutions.” “I believe this nation will give taxes once we assure them their money will be spent on them. People think their money is spent on politicians’ lavish lifestyle; therefore they don’t pay taxes.”

The PTI chief said human development index in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is the highest among other provinces. “After we eliminate corruption, we will be able to spend more money on human development.”

He said his government would promote tourism which he said is one of the biggest untapped industries in Pakistan.

The previous PTI government in KP fostered tourism, attracting multitude of tourists and earning revenue of billions of rupees, he said and added it reformed police, education and health sectors, besides launching billion tree tsunami project and empowering local bodies system.

Mr. Khan said reforming and modernising agriculture and livestock sectors, making warehouses for storage are part of the manifesto.
