ISLAMABAD: Challenging the probe committee to trace the connection of inappropriate messages with his number, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Friday has welcomed the Prime Minister’s decision of constituting a committee to probe into Ayesha Gulalai’s allegations.

Welcoming PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s decision, Imran has challenged the investigators to trace connection of lewd messages with his number. “Giving priority to investigation into the allegations over plans to recover damages incurred due to countrywide floods simply shows the government’s preferences,” he said.

Imran said the rival parties, after getting failed to prove anything against him despite filing several petitions, are now coming with different ways and tactics to malign his name.

“They are trying to score points in order to undermine the party,” he remarked.

Viewing the Gulalai’s accusation as part of an ongoing smear campaign by PML-N, he said that she has been in contact with Khyber Pakthunkhwa PML-N leader Amir Muqam and Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman.

“Such accusations will not deter me from exposing the corrupt leaders and mafias,” he further said.

Condemnation of Attack on Rashid

Imran also condemned the attack at Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed’s residence by suspected Pakistan Muslim-League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers.

He opined that such attacks are indication of intolerance, adding that the PTI will not tolerate such intimidation.

“PML-N has restored its old tactics of attacking and intimidating their opponents and institutions,” he further said.

It merits to mention here that the opposition and ruling PML-N are waging a war of words over Gulalai’s accusations. PTI has accused the ruling party of bribing Gulalai’s father for speaking against Imran Khan while denying allegations categorically.
