LODHRAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Friday demanded the formation of judicial commission to investigate the extra-judicial killings the country, particularly after the arrest of notorious former policeman Abid Boxer.
Addressing a political rally ahead of the by-elections in Lodhran, the PTI chief called on the Supreme Court to take notice of the extra-judicial killings and form a judicial commission to investigate the matter.
Referring to the arrest of former sub-inspector Abid Boxer who has allegedly confessed to a string of encounters and made starting revelations that there conducted on the behest of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the PTI chief questioned how institutions can function if instructed to kill people.
He said that Abid Boxer has confessed to killing two brothers on directives of Shahbaz Sharif, while a youth named Mudassir was killed in Kasur on suspicion of criminal assault.
“During Shahaz Sharif’s reign, 870 people were killed. In Kasur, police has killed 137 people,” he alleged and questioned how the police can function if involved in the extra-judicial killing of people.
Therefore, he called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan to formed a judicial commission to investigate the extra-judicial killings in the country.
“If the chief minister breaks the law, then the police will also break the law,” he said adding the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak never instructed to kill anyone, and the police in the province was working independently.
He said the KP Police learned new methods of investigation and solved the case of minor girl Asma who was raped and murdered in Mardan. Meanwhile, there has been no justice in the killing of fourteen people in the Model Town incident in Lahore.
Reminding that every ruler has a downfall, Imran Khan said that after former prime minister Nawaz Sharif it was now time for Shahbaz Sharif to face the consequences. “If the chief minister is involved in any wrongdoing, then no body will be ever held accountable.”
He said the Abid Boxer has made serious allegations against Shahbaz Sharif, and they will request the Supreme Court to form a commission against him.
PTI accepted verdict unlike Sharif
He said that the PTI accepted the court’s verdict when Jehangir Tareen was disqualified even though he was not involved in money laundering, tax evasion or corruption, and is the highest tax paying politician, and also pays the full cost to sugarcane growers.
He said that Tareen respects the intuitions and accepted their decision, unlike Sharif who asked why he was ousted and set up a tirade against the judiciary. He said the accused Sharif family presented before tNAB in corruption cases and instead said that their questions were not answered.
“Nawaz Sharif, Maryam also said that their questions were not answered,” he said which implied that there questioning the audacity of the Supreme Court to hold them accountable.
He said that Nawaz Sharif was not alone and even several of his ministers were involved in corruption such as Khawaja Saad Rafique who was behind massive corruption in a housing scheme, and Khawaja Asif who owns a iqama (work permit) in the United Arab Emirates.
He added that cases were lodged against him and Tareen after they filed the Panama Papers case, and attempts were made to intimidate and pressurise them but they remained stead fast and undettered.
Imran Khan said that he has struggled against the corrupt ‘mafia’ since over two decades. “This is not politics, this is jihad,” he said that the current government has massively indebted the nation which will have to be paid by the people.
He said that Nawaz Sharif was making lofty statements and even claimed to have resolved the Kashmir issue if he had stayed in power. “Wherever Nawaz Sharif holds a political gathering, I will hold one in the same spot.”
He called on the people to support Ali Tareen, the son on former PTI General Secretary Jehangir Khan Tareen, in the upcoming by-elections.
