Imran turns down proposed hike in POL prices

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief, Imran Khan has rejected an increase in POL prices on the new year eve, saying that this will further burden the people – ARY News reports.

Talking to media after the walima ceremony of son of PTI leader Aijaz Ahmed Chaudhry here on Tuesday, Khan said that if the Government is to be run by increasing the rates of petrol and diesel, then the Finance Minister is not required.

He added that increasing the prices of petrol and diesel will heighten the rates of all the commodities and PTI will fully protest against this.

The PTI Chairman told that until the tax evasion and corruption will not be eradicated, inflation will be rising and we shall continue to protest.

The Government is expected to announce the new prices of the petroleum products on Dec 31, 2013. Prices of petroleum products are expected to increase by up to Rs5 per litre across the country starting from January 1, 2014
