Imran’s decision to call off lockdown strengthened Nawaz Sharif: Shah
KARACHI: Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Wednesday strongly criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan saying that the decision to call off the Islamabad lockdown strengthened Nawaz Sharif.
The senior Pakistan People’s Party leader said that it immensely hurt him to see the rally in Islamabad today, and there were only ten thousand people when the PTI had claimed to gather over one million people.
Shah, while addressing at the DA Officers club, said that turning back workers who had come with huge expectations was dangerous in politics. He suggested that Imran Khan should have consulted properly on making the abrupt decision.
He said that Imran Khan was a bowler and had to wait for the umpire’s decision, but the judiciary and other institutions had rejected his appeal.
“The PPP does not believe in sit-in, but the power of the parliament,” he said.
He also lashed out at the federal government and said that it wanted to destroy the federation, while Sindh was trying their best effort to save it. “The government of Nawaz Sharif is a threat to the federation,” he said.
He lamented that politics was being confined to drawing rooms, while leaders were at the helm of affairs, and workers were fighting were each other. Therefore, he said that it was imperative to work on the vision of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Shah said that the PPP have presented four demands in front of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and they would not back track from them.
He said that Balochistan and Khyber Pakthunkhwa provinces were neglected in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said that the National Action Plan had helped bring some peace to the country.
