India crushes Australia by 73 runs to continue winning pursuit
MIRPUR: India continued the winning pursuit by crushing Australia with a comprehensive win of 73-run to end Super 10 stage of World T20 on Sunday, ARY News reported.
Australian skipper George Bailey invited India to bat first after winning the toss at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
India batting first lost Rohit Sharma (5), who fell in the very first over.
Virat Kohli (23) then came in to join Ajinkya Rahane (19), who opened the innings instead of Shikhar Dhawan.
Following the departure of Rahane and Kohli, out of form, Yuvraj Singh and Indian skipper Dhoni (24) staged a dogged fightback.
The two put up a fifth-wicket partnership of 84 runs.
Yuvraj Singh hit a brilliant 43 ball 60 while Dhoni made 24, which allow India to score 159/7.
Glitches in Australian batting and some tight bowling guides India to comprehensive win, bowling Australia out in 16.2 overs at 86.
Australian batters fumbled from the beginning of the game, Aaron Finch (6), the first to fall followed by Cameron White for a duck.
Astralia's woes continued as Mohit Sharma came good in the next over, castling Shane Watson for 1-run.
Glen Maxwell with his 23 was the top scorer for Australia.
Australia remained unsuccessful to tackle India spinning-duo as Ravichandran Ashwin took 4 wickets in 3.2 overs conceding 11 runs while Amit Mishra ended his figures as 3-0-13-2.
