ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that India is trying to divert the attention of the international community from the Kashmir dispute.

In an interview, the defence minister said that the Indian government is making all efforts to shift the focus of the world community from Kashmir with false claims of surgical strikes against Pakistan and the attack on Uri military base.

He said that Indian atrocities against the people of Kashmir are on the rise adding that the country is violating basic human rights in the disputed territory.

He said that the neighboring country has resorted to escalate hostilities with Pakistan in order to shift the focus of world community from atrocities in occupied Kashmir.

He went on to say that India is unable to control the situation prevailing in the region following the killing of freedom fighter Burhan Wani.

Asif stated that different viewpoints regarding Uri military base attack are emerging in the neighboring country as its government has been unable to prove their claims.
