Spokesperson for Indian Foreign Affairs Ministry Vikas Swarup made this statement while addressing a media briefing in New Delhi today.

“India has welcomed the Pakistan’s response to send special investigation team to India to probe attack on Indian airbase in Pathankot.”

He told that foreign-secretary level talks with Pakistan had been rescheduled to a date in a “very near future”.

“We welcome the steps taken by the Pakistan government against terror groups as positive steps.”

Swarup said “We note the apprehension of JeM members. Action taken against JeM is an important & positive first step.”

He said: “We look forward the visit of Pak special investigation team and our investigative agencies will support them”.

When asked if the national security advisers of the two countries have spoken over the phone, he replied that the NSAs have been in regular touch.

The Indian official said special investigation team was an operational level thing and foreign secretary doesn’t get into terminology. The secretaries talks on comprehensive dialogue.

“We hope Pakistan will continue investigation and bring all perpetrators to justice”

To a question, he insisted that foreign secretary-level talks were a separate track, while the probe team on Pathankot was a separate track. Don’t link the two.
