India urges US not to invest in Diamer-Bhasha project

The media reports said that  Indian government through diplomatic channels has asked the Obama administration to ensure that the US companies did not invest in the project.

Indian officials claimed in the complaint that the dam was being built in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, which is a territory disputed between India and Pakistan.

The United States hosted a one-day conference in Washington recently to help Pakistan to raise funds for the 4,500MW hydro-electric project.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar talking to media after the conference had rejected the Indian objection to the project as irrelevant.
