International Customs Day is being celebrated across the world today.
On 26th January 1952, World Customs Organization (WCO) came into being and is the only institution who deals with affairs related to customs in the world.
There are 117 total members of the WCO.
The purpose of the day is to promote new techniques, ideologies, technologies and promotion of the organization in the world. On this day, drugs and other substances, found by the custom officials are reduced to ashes.
Various Custom Agencies and institution honor its employees and officers for the contribution to the sector. Seminars and workshops are held each year to shed light on the importance of Customs departments for the country.
