KARACHI: A local court on Wednesday gave more time to a police officer investigating the murder of Intizar Ahmed in the city’s posh locality of DHA, to submit charge-sheet of the case.

The investigation officer of the case informed the court that a new joint investigation team was inquiring into the murder case afresh.

He, therefore, asked the judge to give more time for submission of charge-sheet until the probe team concludes its investigation.

Granting his request, the court adjourned the hearing till Feb 27, when it said the police should produce all  the arrested suspects before it.

On Feb 20, the first meeting of the joint investigation team formed on the directions of the Sindh chief minister was held at the Central Police Office.

CTD chief Dr Sanaullah Abbasi chaired the meeting, which was attended by DIG South Azad Khan and other officials of both military and civilian agencies.

Ishtiaq Ahmed, father of the victim, appeared along with his counsel before the probe team and apprised it of his reservations.

Young Intizar Ahmed was shot dead under mysterious circumstances by armed Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) personnel when he didn’t stop his car after being signaled by them in Khayaban-i-Bukhari of Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on January 13.

Eight ACLC officials have been arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand in the case while an accused has been out on bail.
