Iran, Pakistan to sign MoU for arts, literature cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Iran and Pakistan will formally sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) soon to enhance cooperation in the fields of literature, arts and culture.

According to Iranian news agency IRNA, the cooperation was agreed between Pakistan’s Adviser to Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui and Cultural Counselor of Iranian Embassy in Pakistan Shahaboddin Daraei during a meeting.

Shahaboddin Daraei invited the Pakistan PM’s adviser to Tehran for signing the MoU. Mr. Siddiqui said Pakistan and Iran were tied in the religious, historical, cultural and civilizational bond which required enhancing cooperation on literary and cultural fronts as well.

Both the countries also share the same literary and poetic legacy which is vital to bring people of both countries closer to one another, he added. Siddiqui emphasised on taking mutual steps for preservation and promotion of calligraphy.

Mr. Daraei said contribution of the newly created Division was a torch-bearer and a source of inspiration for Iranian people
