Irrfan Khan’s Jurassic World on a rampage’ grosses $500 million in single weekend

The dinosaurs of Jurassic Park are making headlines worldwide, by raking in $204.6 million in North America and making the film the first to gross more than $500 million world-wide in a single weekend.

“The success of ‘Jurrasic World’ has come out as blessing for all of us. I am overjoyed with the response that the film has received in India and abroad. I thank everyone who has contributed to this film and made it such a large success,” Irrfan said in a statement.

Irrfan Khan plays Simon Masrani, the owner of Jurassic Park in the flick. The plot of the movie unfolds nearly 22 years after the previous Jurassic Park, on an island Isla Nublar, which is frequented by as many as 20,000 visitors a day.

Jurassic World, which also stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, is set on Isla Nublar island, the same location as Jurassic Park. It is a direct sequel to the runaway 1993 hit.
