KARACHI: Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and MPA Irum Azeem Farooque on Sunday lambasted at Salman Mujahid Baloch over pointing out her name as the reason for his expulsion from the party.

Calling upon Baloch for a debate on the matter, Irum said that it is beyond her understanding that why her name was highlighted in the intraparty infighting.

I come to know about Baloch’s statement through some of friends in MQM-P, the erstwhile MQM member said.

Shedding light on internal party affairs, Irum alleged that Baloch has been demanding Rs2.5 million from the District Munipal Corporation monthly.

She also accused another party MPA Aamir Moin of corruption, besides claiming that several MQM-P leaders also possess the foreign work permits [Iqamas].

Earlier on Saturday, Baloch had expressed an opinion that his expulsion was a punishment for raising his concerns over the expulsion of another party member Irum Azeem.

Irum distanced herself from the MQM after the party founder made an inciting speech on August 22, 2016. Following the speech, she had resigned from the party membership and Sindh Assembly seat.

Almost a year later, Irum joined PTI in August, 2017.
