Ishaq Dar directs FBR to gear up its efforts to achieve the revenue collection target

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar expressed severe concern over revenue collection and announced to shift his office to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) if the revenue collection isn’t increase for the month of April, ARY News reported.

The Minsiter said Rs. 214 billion were collected in the month of March which is Rs. 16 less than the desired target.

“From now onward the FBR will have to collect Rs.257 billion per month to achieve the revenue collection target”, he directed.

Addressing the conference of FBR officials in Islamabad on Tuesday, Ishaq Dar has directed the FBR to further gear up its efforts to achieve the revenue collection target of Rs. 2345 billion set for the current fiscal year.

Ishaq Dar said achieving the revenue target is imperative to develop programs for future of the country. He said the present government has doubled expenditures on the welfare of poor. The expenditures on the poor segments have been enhanced from Rs.40 billion to Rs.75 billion.

He said increasing the tax is the only way to control inflation as decrease in the allotted amount of development projects is not possible.

Ishaq Dar said the economic indicators are showing positive trends and the same have been endorsed by the international financial institutions.
