According to details, a full dress rehearsal for the upcoming Pakistan Day parade will be held today which will cause the Benazir International Airport in Islamabad to close for flights for a total of five hours.

Mobile phone services will also remain suspended in the city from 05:00 am in the morning till 02:00 pm in the afternoon. An alternate traffic plan has also been devised and issued.

The Pakistan Day is celebrated each year by the nation on March 23 for the historic Lahore resolution that was passed on the same day in 1940, calling for a separate Islamic state for the Muslims of the sub-continent. An important development in the politics of that era, the Pakistan Resolution (as it became known subsequently) was an important step towards the creation of Pakistan.

The Pakistan Day parade was a spectacle to witness since it was being held after a seven year hiatus. It was held at the Parade Ground in Islamabad with pomp and show as Pakistan’s military displayed its might in the presence of senior government and armed forces’ personalities.
