The CEO ARY appeared in person in the court today for the hearing of the case. His counsel informed the IHC bench that his client had not received any summons from the police and the warrants were issued without offering him any opportunity of hearing.
“As a law abiding citizen, he (Mr. Iqbal) respects the criminal justice system and shall join the investigations,” the counsel said.
After hearing arguments, Justice Athar Minallah quashed the arrest warrants for Mr. Iqbal.
The judge observed that “the ARY CEO holds complete faith in the law and the Constitution of Pakistan and holds the court of law to the utmost respect.”
“In these circumstances, the warrants of arrest have become infructuous and therefore the same shall no more remain in field.”
