Islamabad police want JIT to probe killing of SP Dawar

ISLAMABAD: Police on Friday requested the Islamabad Commissioner to constitute a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the murder of SP Tahir Khan Dawar, ARY News reported.

As per details, the police have made a request to the commissioner for formation of a JIT to investigate the high-profile case.

Meanwhile, the Ramna police incorporated terror and murder charges into the case that was registered following the kidnapping of the martyred police officer.

Earlier, a case was registered with the Ramna police on Oct 28 on a complaint lodged by the slain cop’s brother, Farhan Ahmed Dawar.

SP Dawar, who was kidnapped from Islamabad’s G-10/4 area on Oct 26, was murdered in Afghanistan and his tortured body was found in Dur Baba district of Nangarhar province in Afghanistan on November 14.

The martyred police officer’s funeral prayers were offered at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines in Peshawar on Thursday evening and he was buried in Hayatabad graveyard late night.

KP Governor Shah Farman, Chief Minister Mehmood Khan, Corps Commander Lt Gen Shaheen Mazhar, State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi and IG KP Salahuddin Mehsud, Shehram Tarakai, KP government spokesman Ajmal Wazir,  and a large number of other people attended the funeral prayers.
