Islamabad Police on toes after security alert to Musharraf
ISLAMABAD: After the issuance of a new security alert to General (R) Pervez Musharraf, top officials of the Islamabad Police have started pondering upon in this regard. IG Islamabad says all the routes, through which the former President will lead his way, will be sealed completely to avoid any mishap – ARY News reports.
According to details, General (R) Pervez Musharraf has to appear before the special court tomorrow in the treason trial against him. IG Islamabad, Sikander Hayat has said that Musharraf will be provided security higher than earlier and for this purpose additional contingent of security forces shall be deployed at the three routes, through which the former President is to lead his way to the special court and return from there.
He added that all the routes of Pervez Musharraf's way will be sealed completely and nobody shall be allowed to get through in the wake of a serious threat posed to the life of the former President.
Earlier, it was reported that General (R) Pervez Musharraf will not appear before the Special Court in high-treason case tomorrow (Tuesday) due to security threats.
Sources told that relatives and lawyers of Musharraf advised him to refrain from attending court proceedings due to security reasons, as a letter was also written by the Interior Ministry describing serious threats to him.
The letter mentioned that a bomb can possibly be planted alongside a road where the convoy of Musharraf will pass through to make it to the court.
