LAHORE: Defence Ministry and Punjab Government has decided to place cell phone jammers in 14 jails of Punjab, ARY News reports on Friday.
Punjab Government and the Federal Defence Ministry signed a two year agreement to place jammers in 14 jails of the province after a meeting at Civil Secretariat in Lahore.
Speaking to media, IG Jail Mian Farooq Nazeer said that mobile phone jammers will be placed in 14 prisons of Punjab including Lahore, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Sahiwal. The agreement can be extended as well, Nazeer said.
Mian Farooq Nazeer also said that Public Calling Offices (PCO) have already been placed for the criminals to contact their relatives. He confessed that several inmates carry out their crimes through mobile phones.
