JI hosted APC demands judicial commission on May 12 Incident
KARACHI: Leaders of different religious and political parties have demanded to form a judicial commission for restoration of peace in the metropolis, to probe the incident of May 12, 2007 and to register an FIR against Pervez Musharraf – ARY News reports.
According to details, Jamat e Islami (JI) organized an All Parties Conference (APC) on Monday, addressing which the JI Karachi Ameer, Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman said if the culprits of May 12, 2004 were punished then the incident of May 12, 2007 would not have occurred, nor the elections on May 11, 2013 were rigged.
He said that if peace is desired in Karachi, then the culprits of May 12 will have to be punished and the ones who burnt alive the lawyers must be brought before the law.
The JI Karachi Ameer said that if terrorists and killers were not punished, then such incidents will keep occurring.
On May 12, 2004, 12 activists belonging to the JI lost their lives when violence broke out during by-elections, while more than 45 people were killed during clashes on May 12, 2007.
Others at the APC demanded to observe May 12 as a day of Freedom of Judiciary and Freedom of Media. They said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had also demanded for the formation of a judicial commission on May 12 Incident.
Various leaders demanded for the registration of an FIR of the May 12 Incident against General (R) Pervez Musharraf and said that it is the responsibility of Sindh Government to register a case against him.
