Johnny Depp forms supergroup with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry!

TOP NEWS

The announcement just came weeks after Depp had dished out scathing criticism of actors who dabbled with musical instruments. “That whole idea for me is a sickening thing, it’s always just made me sick,” he said last month during the press tour for his comedy caper Mortdecai. “I hate the idea, ‘Come see me play the guitar because you’ve seen me in 12 movies.’ It shouldn’t be [that way]. You want the people who are listening to the music to only be interested in the music … I’ve been very lucky to play on friends’ records, and it’s still going. Music is still part of my life. But you won’t be hearing the Johnny Depp Band. That won’t ever exist.”

The new band will play at the Rock in Rio festival in September later this year where they will be joined by popular acts such as System of a Down and Queens of the Stone Age. The group has also worked the studio with another legendary Beatles member, Paul McCartney last year. Perry had spoken to the Chicago-Sun Times and said “I was in the studio with Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp, playing guitar, and the three of us are looking at each other like, ‘hey, we’re sitting here with Paul McCartney!’ And we’re all looking at each other like open-mouthed kids … It’s the great ego leveller.”

The singing credentials for Depp, however do not end here. His collaboration with Joe Perry goes back to 2012 when the two collaborated on Aerosmith’s song Freedom Fighter. Perry had penned the song whereas Johnny Depp sung the playback vocals on the track. Johnny Depp recently married girlfriend Amber Heard in a private ceremony in Los Angeles. Depp’s movies have grossed more than $7.5 billion worldwide. All we can do is wait and see if his vocal chords earn him laurels that could match his accomplishments in front of the silver screen!
