Journalist unions condemn attack on reporters in Islamabad
Police attacked reporters of different news channels during clashes with activists of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Islamabad. The cops also smashed the cameras as well.
Ameen Yousuf, Secretary of Pakistan Federation Union of Journalists (PFUJ), said that the reporters were attacked under proper planning.
“We will protect the media at any cost”, Yousuf said.
President of PFUJ Rana Azeem said that Islamabad Police were ordered to crackdown media officials. He added that he is ready to provide evidence regarding the claim.
Journalist organizations have called for countrywide demonstrations against the attack on media persons.
