LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar said on Sunday judicial officers are bound to hand down verdicts that conform to the principles of justice laid down in law, ARY New reported.

Addressing the concluding session of 2nd Punjab Women Judges Conference here, he said strict adherence to the due process of law must be ensured to improve the quality of justice.

The Chief Justice said  judicial officers can play a significant role in improving the working and environment of courts and swift disposal of cases.

He said steps are still required to be taken to ensure swift and easy access to justice.

Not only does the country’s constitution guarantee equal rights to every citizen, including women, but it provides for safeguarding those rights, he said, adding that the country is fortunate to have a written constitution.

Expressing his gratitude to the Lahore High Court and the Judicial Academy for organizing the conference, he hoped that judges would learn from each others’ experience.
