TOP NEWS

LAHORE: The Chief Justice (CJ) of the Lahore High Court (LHC), Justice Umer Ata Bandiyal has said that the Judiciary is a vibrant institution and its verdicts should not be made controversial – ARY News reports.

According to details, Justice Umer Ata Bandiyal said that the lawyers and media are to safeguard this institution, whereas its verdicts on various issues should not be made controversial.

He was addressing a ceremony of the Press Council of Pakistan here on Saturday.

The CJ said that justice is not delivered by the number of verdicts given by the cases; it is rather measured by the quality of decisions made, whilst key national institutions were neglected in the past.

Justice Bandiyal stated that the accused get freed from the courts, due to inadequate or poor investigation by the police and the courts are then alleged of freeing culprits.

He told that the Judiciary wants to reform the society; it is never intended only to sentence the masses.
