JUI-F's Haideri sworn in as deputy chairman Senate

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri on Thursday took oath as the deputy chairman of the Senate, ARY News reported.

Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri was elected as the deputy chairman of the upper house, after bagging 74 votes.

His opponent Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate, Shibli Faraz could only secure 16 votes.

Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar administered oath to the newly elect deputy chairman and made a formal announcement of him taking up the office.

“Abdul Ghaforr Haideri stands elected as the deputy chairman of the Senate of Pakistan”, Dar announced after administering oath to him.
