Jul-Nov 2013:Trade deficit reduce by 5.5pc

ISLAMABAD: Trade deficit of Pakistan has been reduced by 5 per cent during the first five month of current fiscal year, ARY News reported on Saturday.

According to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the exports of the country during July-November 2013 has increased by 3.1 per cent and was recorded at $10.4 billion against $10.1 billion in the corresponding period in the previous year, showing a net increase of $312 million. While imports for the period under review shrunk by 0.6 per cent and was stood at $18.2 billion against the previous year’s import bill of $18.3 billion, witnessing decline of $140 million.

The trade deficit for July-November 2013 shrunk by $452 million and recorded at $7.8 billion, in contrast to $8.2 billion for the same period of previous year.
