LAHORE: Newly appointed Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC), Justice Muhammad Anwarul Haq, on Tuesday took oath of his office at a ceremony in the provincial capital today.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar administered the oath to the new chief justice of the high court at Governor’s house.
Judges, members of the city’s legal fraternity and government officials attended the oath-taking ceremony.
Justice Haq has become the 47th chief justice of the LHC, replacing outgoing Justice Muhammad Yawar Ali.
A day earlier, President Dr Arif Alvi gave the go-ahead to Justice Haq’s appointment as LHC chief justice. Besides, seven others were appointed as additional judges.
