ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court’s Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has sworn in as the acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan, ARY News reported on Thursday.
Chief Justice Tassaduq Jillani administered oath to Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali in a ceremony at Supreme Court.
Supreme Court judges, senior lawyers and other dignitaries attended the oath taking ceremony.
Justice Nasirul Mulk resigned yesterday as acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), after his appointment as Chief Justice of Pakistan from July 6.
Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani is retiring from the office of top judge of Pakistan on July 5.
Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali is the third acting CEC to have been appointed in less than a year.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), has been waiting for a regular head since Justice (retd_ Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim resigned on July 30, 2013.
