Karachi: 100 arrested for violating pillion riding ban

KARACHI: Police have rounded up at least 100 people in the metropolis for violating the ban on pillion riding ban, ARY News reported.

The provincial government of Sindh Sunday imposed a two-day ban on pillion riding ahead of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) being observed on November 21 (today).

Police said most of the arrests were made from sea view area and near the remits of Darakhshan Police Station.

Women, children below the age of 12 years, senior citizens, journalists, personnel of law enforcement agencies/security agencies in uniform, and employees of the essential services are exempted from the ban.

According to the notification, the ban has been imposed in pursuance of section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for the maintenance of law and order and security in the city on the sacred occasion.
