KARACHI: Police have arrested at least 290 people for violating the ban on pillion riding across the metropolis, ARY News reported.
The government of Sindh banned pillion riding across the city over the prevailing law and order situation in the Islamic month of Muharram.
The ban came into effect from 6pm from yesterday (Oct 8) and will continue till the 11th Muharram i.e. 13th October.
The police also confiscated more than 100 motorcycles after it arrested motorists violating the pillion riding order.
The challan for the arrested people will be produced in the court in Monday
Additional Inspector General Mushtaq Mahar said that the ban has been imposed over security situation in the ongoing month of Muharram, and warned citizens that the ban will be strictly implemented.
