Karachi: 3,608 cops deployed for security of Chup Tazia procession

KARACHI: Heavy contingents of law enforcement agencies has been deployed to guard the main Chup Tazia procession taken out from Nishtar Park on Saturday morning, ARY News reported.

The procession emerged from the Nishtar Park after Fajr prayers and will culminate at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah at Zohrain. It will pass through Shahnawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, M.A. Jinnah Road, Preedy Street, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazaar, Market Road, Mahabat Khanji Road and Atma Ram Pritam Das Road.

The main procession would be led by Anjuman Imamia Karachi’s General Secretary Imtiaz Hussain.

According to police, as many as 3608 cops and other law enforcement officers have been deployed at various spots of processions for security.

Police have also enhanced their patrolling in areas surrounding the procession routes. The Counter Terrorism Department will conduct surveillance of processions through close circuit TV cameras.

The authorities have also called Bomb Disposal Squad teams to conduct inspections along routes of the procession.

Chup Tazia processions are taken out on 8th Rabi-ul-Awwal every year to commemorate the death of Hazrat Imam Hasan al-Askari (RA).
