Karachi: Case of attack on local news channel van filed

KARACHI: The case of the attack on the van of a local news channel under Anti Terrorism Act was filed on Monday, ARY News reported.

According the details, the First Information Report (FIR) of the terrorist attack has been filed against unknown attackers under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The forensic report of the weapons used in the attack has been finalized. The assailants used two different 9mm pistols in the attack, the report said. These arms were not used in any criminal act earlier, the forensic report disclosed.

Inspector General Sindh A.D. Khawaja, on the instruction of Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, has formed two investigation teams to investigate the attacks on the news channel van and the police vehicle in Karachi.

The teams headed by SSP Central Muqaddas Haider and SSP Investigation Samiullah Soomro will lead the investigation teams. The police officials will inform the progress into the investigations to the IG Sindh on daily basis.

Assistant cameraman of a local television channel, Taimur Abbas, was shot dead and the van driver was injured on Sunday after the vehicle came under fire near KDA Chowrangi in North Nazimabad area of the city.

Earlier, a police mobile van was attacked with a cracker blast near Five Star Chowrangi in the metropolis.
