Karachi: CTD kill terrorist, arrest four others in raid on terror sleeper cell

KARACHI: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in a raid in Korangi killed a terrorist of a banned group and arrested four other while capturing large haul of explosives including suicide jackets, ARY News reported on Monday.

In the shootout in Mehran Town of Korangi a terrorist Dildar alias Chacha was killed, while four of his accomplices were arrested, officials said. He was affiliated with an outlawed group.

The slain terrorist was chief of a sleeper cell of the terrorist group.

The terrorists were planning a major attack in the city. Around 500 kilogrammes of explosives were captured from the hideout of the terrorists, officials said. The captured munitions included suicide vests and rocket launchers.

The CTD personnel after exchange of fire searched the house in Mehran Town and during search of the house recovered explosives, bomb shells, suicide jackets, rocket launchers, nut bolts and detonators hidden in drums in kitchen and other parts of the house, officials further said.

CTD in-charge Raja Umar Khattab has said that Dildar alias Chacha was the head of a sleeper cell of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Naeem Bukhari group. He was involved in attacks on the buses of Navy personnel and had prepared the explosives laden vehicle that was used in the attack on the house of late SSP Chaudhry Aslam.

Four arrested terrorists being interrogated and sensational disclosures are expected, the official said.

I.G. Sindh Police has announced Rs. one million reward for the police personnel involved in the raid in Korangi in which a terrorist was killed and four others arrested.
