Karachi: Imposters pretending to be Rangers officials arrested

KARACHI: Police arrested two men pretending to be Rangers officials for collecting extortion money from New Karachi area of the metropolis on Wednesday, ARY News reported.

The two imposters used to collect extortion from civilians while posing as personnel of the para-military agency, officials said. They were rounded up during a police raid in New Karachi.

Police said that a vehicle, Rangers uniforms and false identification cards were recovered from the arrested men.

Moreover, a gangster named Bilal alias Bhaiyya was killed in an exchange of fire with police in Lyari’s Chakiwara area. He was said to be affiliated with Uzair Baloch gang.

The slain gangster was involved in several heinous crimes including murder and attempt to murder, police said.

Police rounded up several suspects in a search operation in Gulbahar area of Karachi. The arrested men were shifted to an unknown location for investigation.
