Karachi: LEAs arrest over dozen suspects in overnight raids

KARACHI: Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in crackdown against street criminals and drug-peddlers in the metropolis, arrested over a dozen suspects in overnight raids on Wednesday, ARY News reported.

Acting on an intelligence tip-off about presence of some miscreants, Police and Rangers – in a joint raid – arrested three suspects from Pak Colony of the city by sealing entry and exit routes to the area. The paramilitary forces along with police personnel carried out door-to-door search operation during the raid.

However, identification of the arrested suspects could not be established.

In another raid, police arrested two suspects from Karnal Basti in PIB Colony. Arrested suspects were identified as Bakhtiyar alias Bakhti and Shahdil. Weapon and drugs were also recovered from the possession of arrested men.

Bakhtiyar, one of the two arrested suspects, was booked in 18 different cases at PIB police station, police sources said.

Separately, police recovered stolen motorcycles, narcotics, and weapons in a raid in Nazimabad area of the city by arresting five suspects. The arrested suspects said to be involved in street crimes and drug peddling.

The police said that the suspects hail from notorious Asad Pathan Group, one of the active gangs in Lyari. However, details pertaining to identification of the suspects were not shared. The police have filed cases against the arrested men.
