Karachi: Lyari gangster shot dead, 14 held

According to details, an armed man opened fire at the Rangers personnel when the para-military force was carrying out an operation in Lyari’s Singu Lane area. An exchange of fire took place in which the gunman was killed, while a Rangers personnel also wounded.

Meanwhile, Rangers force took four persons into custody during a search operation in residential apartments at Liaquatabad No. 10 area. The nabbed suspects were shifted to an unknown location for investigation.

Preedy Police raided different hotels in its area and arrested 10 suspects.

Two persons were killed in violent incidents in the city.

Police said that a person was shot dead near Hawks Bay Road. The dead body was shifted to Civil Hospital for identification.

A 12-year was wounded in a firing incident during a robbery near Garden Shoe Market area. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to a medical facility.

The government of Sindh has extended the stay of Rangers force in the province for another year and they would exercise special policing powers in Karachi for additional period of 90 days to continue their targeted operation against criminal mafias and terrorists.

After the much-awaited approval by the provincial chief minister, the paramilitary forces would be able to remain in Sindh until July 19, 2017.
