Karachi: One killed, explosives recovered in Lyari

KARACHI: One person was killed and another was injured in different firing incidents in Karachi whereas Law Enforcing Agencies (LEAs) captured large amount of explosive devices from a house in Daryabad area of Lyari on Saturday, ARY News reports.

One killed, one wounded:

According to Police, a 35 year old person named Suleman Javed was gunned down at Albela intersection in Garden area.

A passerby was wounded in an encounter against drug dealers in Neelum Colony of Clifton.

Explosives recovered in Lyari:

Rangers carried out a raid at a house in Daryabad area of Lyari and recovered 50 kilograms of explosive material, four prepared bomb devices, detonator wires, hand grenade, ball bomb, nuts and bolts, ball bearing, Kalashnikov and one TT pistol.

Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused the explosives after an hour’s struggle.

A rangers spokesman stated that the raid was carried out after an information was received about the presence of outlawed group members. They managed to flee from the scene.

The spokesperson said that the terrorists were going to carry out a major attack in the city. He added that the bomb was prepared for attacking their target through a remote control.

Stolen truck recovered:

Police recovered a cement truck that was stolen from the jurisdiction of Mochko Police Station in Saeedabad area.

Several suspects arrested:

Ten suspects, including foreign nationals, were rounded up by LEAs in different areas of Karachi. Arms were also recovered during the raid.
