Karachi police arrest notorious Punjabi Taliban leader among 6 terrorists

KARACHI: The special Investigation Unit (SIU) Police claimed to have apprehended a senior leader of outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban (Punjab chapter) among six terrorists from Orangi Town area, ARY News reported.

SSP SIU Farooq Awan said the SIU team raided in Orangi Town on a tip-off and captured a Naib Ameer of TTP Punjab chapter, Saeed Islam. He said the arrested terrorist was involved in bank robberies, abduction for ransom and extortion.

The SSP claimed that the arrested terrorist had confessed he used to send money to North Waziristan for terrorism activities. He said the police was going after him from a clue of CCTV footage of bank robbery in Awami Colony area.

Awan said the terrorist group headed by Saeed Islam was also planning an attack on Imambargah in Korangi Town.
