Karachi shuts down as MQM obeserves 'day of mourning'

KARACHI: Public transport and commercial centres of Karachi are closed  as Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is observing a day of mourning on Saturday (today), ARY News reports.

MQM had called for a day or mourning for the extrajudicial killing of their workers. Sindh Assembly members of MQM had also walked out of the house yesterday.

Karachi Transport Alliance and Sindh Traders Alliance have announced to close their businesses to support the strike call of MQM. Scant public transport is seen on the roads of the metropolis.

Commerical centres of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Malir, Orangi, Korangi, Landhi, Saddar, M.A. Jinnah Road, Nazimabad areas are closed.

Private Schools Management Association had earlier announced that all private schools of the city will remain closed. Educational activities of Karachi University will also remain suspended.
